Katherine Annis, APRN, FNP-BC, and Jane Case, DNP, APRN-BC, are the two VUMC clinicians who finished FY 2022 with a perfect top box score of 100%, with 30 or more surveys returned.Ĭase, who has worked in primary care in the Department of Medicine at VUMC for 25 years, said she takes great care to always be respectful of her patients. VUMC’s top box score has improved from 72.7 in FY 2018 to 76.3 in FY 2022, moving from the 49th percentile to the 70th percentile. In addition to the top-scoring clinicians and clinical areas, VUMC’s institution-wide patient experience scores, which are also collected by Press Ganey, have also trended positively. Eligibility was dependent on having at least 30 surveys returned by patients during FY 2022. The provider-related questions on the medical practice/clinic survey were used to recognize clinicians. All areas above the 90th percentile received an award. The top box scores (the percent of the best possible responses) of all the survey questions were compared to the Press Ganey benchmark. Many satellite outpatient clinics, as well as 15 Vanderbilt Health Clinic at Walgreens locations in Middle Tennessee and a number of health clinics at Metro Nashville Public Schools, are included in the outpatient clinical spaces covered by the surveys. The awards recognizing exceptional performance and commitment to service excellence are based on surveys administered by the health care solutions and consultant company Press Ganey across various service areas including medical practice/clinics, inpatient, ambulatory surgery, outpatient services and others. We are proud to recognize these clinical groups and clinicians who are clearly committed to giving their very best effort day in and day out to ensure our patients receive the care they deserve.”Ĭlinical service areas and VUMC providers - including physicians, physician assistants and certified registered nurse practitioners - were honored for ranking in the top 10% nationally in patient experience for fiscal year (FY) 2022 (July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022). “This clearly reflects a continued fulfillment of VUMC’S mission to personalize the patient experience through the caring spirit and distinctive capabilities of our employees. “This represents an increase in awards for both pediatric and adult clinical service areas as well as an increase in the number of individual clinicians earning awards over last year,” said Brian Carlson, Vice President of Patient Experience.
